Shelter Master Class


Details

Learn how to build natural and tarp shelters for any environment using the fundamentals of thermodynamics to keep you warm and dry- or cool and dry. Learn and practice knots and lashings for super storm-proof set-ups. You'll get practice building several different types of shelters for different environments. What you'll learn: -knots, hitches and lashing -fundamentals of thermodynamics -tarp pitches for different scenarios -debris shelters If you have taken wilderness survival with us before, this will be a deeper dive into shelter building than we have time for in that class. You'll also learn how to apply the fundamentals of thermodynamics to your behavior in a survival scenario to increase both your likelihood to stay alive and your comfort while you do. All ropes and tarps provided. This class is gently active. Expect to walk, sit, kneel, and bend. Please dress appropriately for conditions and wear closed toed shoes. Please bring: -a backpack -rain gear -water -extra layers -sunscreen and bug spray -emergency medicine (like if you have an epipen) -a sit pad or camp chair if you have one 10-20% of class proceeds donated to Triangle Land Conservancy
